I started the company back in 2014 after leaving Multi-choice (Channel O Africa department). I decided to take a leap of faith with every intention to learn and become great as a new company owner. I also knew the success of the business would depend on the quality of work we output as a team.
Eager to learn, I drew inspiration from companies like Apple, and decided to employ project management and workflow systems that enable us to always break through the clutter while also injecting some innovative pulse into our work.
Coming up with the name was a bit of a challenge. Initially I sought inspiration from my African culture because I wanted a name that carries a deep meaning about myself and the vision for the company. During my search, the word “Gist” became attractive because it is easy on the tongue and memorable. It also speaks to my fascination with the concept of decluttering and going straight to the heart of the matter, this a principle that has helped me tremendously in my work and so, we became ‘Gist Media’. Today, the mention of Gist conjures up visions of our logo or ignite memories or experiences of our organisation.
The experience form our past years has taught us to adapt and continues to shape our vision for the future especially with the new order of life with COVID-19. Every day, we make the Gist atmosphere more welcoming for our team, our clients and anyone walking through our doors.
